A Couple of Cards

Hooray! I'm on spring break. I'm sitting here in Nags Head, NC as I write. My brother bought a house here recently and I brought my mom and Ryan down for a couple of days to visit. It's still cold, but being at the beach on a cold day is always better than being at home. I'm loving the Outer Banks. We've done lots of fun things this weekend - driving along the beach, eating Carolina BBQ, visiting the Wright Bother's memorial, taking long walks with the beach with the dogs. I could definitely get used to this.

So, here are a couple of cards that I've made recently. This first one uses some pretty Basic Grey flowers.  Aren't they fun? I added Webster's Pages and Prima papers to the background.

The fun thing about these are that they come unassembled. You can layer them however you want.
This next card uses some Crate and Heidi Swapp goodies. I layered them  and love how it turned out. I made it based on the March Color Sketch at Emma's Paperie. You can check it out HERE.

I love using color inspiration pieces. It helps me really think outside the box and put together things that I might otherwise not use together.

Well, that's about it for today. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. :)

Transparency Cards

I have always loved the look of transparencies on cards. I think they add a lot of softness to them. They also allow for a different type of layering to go on. Adding a sticker or piece of chipboard to the inside of the card and letting it peek through to the front is a great way of creating dimension. So, when I received my March Gossamer Blue kits and found the Webster's Pages transparent 3 by 4 journaling cards in them, I knew what I wanted to do. Here is the final result.

On this first card, I stitched one of the transparencies to some cardstock, so that it became the card front. Some chipboard (MME) and a sticker inside finished it off along with some sweet enamel dots.

The transparency was stitched onto a journaling card here. I topped it off with the cameo and butterfly sticker.

I loved this gold dotted card so much! I traced a piece of the heart transparency and added it to the label o the card.  The little enamel dots were a lot of fun to add as details.

Next up is my favorite card. I love anything with sequins! So, I created a pocket with
one of the transparencies and filled it up. I cut apart some of the sequins for visual interest. And since those gold enamel dots are so amazing, I popped on a couple of those, too.

This card is similar to the first. The transparency served as the cover, again. I added the chipboard and stickers to the front. Inside I added the letter U to complete the sentiment. :)

I love this little sweet set. Mint, gold and pink are favorite colors of mine, right now, so I had a great time putting them all together.

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions!

Catching Up- Kittys, Icons and St. Patrick's Day

It's just amazing how quickly time is flying by. I had all good intentions of doing my Filofax post this weekend. I ended up getting sick (the stomach flu, ugh) on Sunday and all of a sudden I turn around and it's Tuesday. I thought I'd post several of my spreads to catch up. But first, I want to share my new organizer. I've tried a couple of different ways to hold my pen and Filofax collection and finally found one that I love. It looks pretty, too!

It's a Craftsman tool tote and is just the size to hold my pens and personal sized Filos. I organized the pens by type - Gelly Rolls, Frixions, Frixion markers and Staedtlers. On the side are my Coletos and refills. I found this tote at KMart, though I've also seen them online.

So, here are my last couple of week's worth of pages. This first one is just fun! All of the stickers are from Doodlebug's Feeling Groovy collections. The striped washi is also Doodlebug and the thin washi is from ebay. (For some reason, my ebay page isn't showing my past purchases, so I can't link it up right now, but if you search thin washi, I'm sure it will show up.)
Here is what I was in my Green Original two weeks ago. I decided to go for a cute kitty theme and used lots of my Kawaii goodies on here. The animal washi, thin washi, stickers and sticky notes are all from ebay. The houndstooth washi is from Pink Paislee. And the banner sticky notes came in an RAK.

Here's last week's St. Pattys Day theme in my Green Original. The cellophane tape is from Ebay (seller amazondigital ) The stickers are all from a cute set from Michael's.

And last week in my Yellow Finsbury... Everything is from Doodlebug's Day by Day collection. Again, the washi is Doodlebug, too. Are you seeing a pattern here? I love Doodlebug stickers for decorating.

Thank you so much for stopping by. If you have any questions about where I got any of these items I'll be happy to get back to you. Have a great day!

Watercolor Background

Happy Spring! I'm so excited that it is finally here. And it feels like spring, too. Hoping it will stay this way, but with the forecast of snow next Tuesday, I'm not holding my breath, yet. LOL. However, anything is better than the Polar -Vortex/Blizzard filled weeks that we'd been having. Just walking outside makes me happy. The daffodils are coming up and the birds are singing. I am a happy girl, again.

Today I have a layout to share with you. I have been really enjoying using my watercolors to create backgrounds. I love the look. On this page, I used pinks and oranges to complement the pretty Webster's Pages circle paper that I used along the bottom. Let me tell you what I did.

I started off by selecting my colors. I used my Gelatos this time. Then, I took a piece of transparency. You could use any kind of plastic, though. Reusing packaging from supplies works great, too. I colored them onto the transparency then I spritzed it with water. I picked up the plastic and swirled the colors together. Then, I flipped it over and pressed it onto the paper. I did this several times layering the colors.

Once I got the look that I wanted, I picked up the paper and let the extra color drip down the page. Sometimes I mop it up with a tissue if I don't want drips, but they worked well here.
I finished off by layering my photo with papers, brads and photo corners. I added some stickers and the wood veneer. Then, I finished it off with the adorable cameo.

That's it! Thanks for stopping by today and have a great day. :)

Shamrocks and Doxies

One more day until Spring. One. More. Day. I've been waiting for this day since last September. As you know, I hate the cold and I hate winter. Slowly but surely the warmth is on its way back. I hope. Can't be totally sure, given we had our 16th snowstorm of the season on Monday and Ryan had a snow day. But, I'm being optimistic.

I'm a couple of weeks behind posting my Filofax pages. So here are the ones for the week of March 3-9.

First up is my Pink Classic. I found some cute Doxie stickers at Michael's and decided to make them the focus of this week's pages.

Supplies:
Washi- Doodlebug, Thin Washi- Ebay
Doxie Stickers- Darice
PL Card- Studio Calico
Pen- Frixion

This next spread is in my Green Original. I switched over to it for the month of March - thought that would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day. I had some cute clover washi and paired it with some cute Kawaii goodies. The little llama sticky notes were just fun and I thought they went along well with everything else.
Washi- Doodlebug, Webster's Pages
Think Washi- Ebay
Llama Sticy notes- Ebay
Clover Cellophane Tape- Etsy
Stickers- Japan Pavillion shop- Disneyworld
Note Paper- from an RAK.

Aside from my sticker, washi, notepaper, addiction, I've recently started loving sealing wax. I used to get it all the time as a kid. They used to sell it at Hallmark and I loved using it on my letters. I was so excited to find it again. Here is my first use.

And here are some of the pretty colored sticks that I got. So fun!
Well, that's it for today. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

New Crate Projects

I have a couple of fun new Crate projects to share with you today. This week we featured several different inspiration boards on the Crate Blog. I love how each of them are so unique and individual!
Mine was created from a shelf that I picked up at a thrift shop. Here is the finished project.

I used a ton of goodies from Crate's Style Board collection. It's adorable and was perfect for this project. I started off by backing  my board with paper from the line.

Then, I used lots of chipboard frames which I embellished with chipboard elements from the collection.

I covered clothespins with paper and added a badge to each. Then I clipped them tot he frames. My goal is to add photos, fabric swatches, etc. that will inspire me to create. I love how the shabby feeling of the shelf/board fits perfectly in my scraproom.

My next project embodies the same feeing as my board. I used the same line to create this page about my love for decorating my Filofax pages.

Let me tell you how I created the background. I used my Gelatos to color on clear transparencies. I mixed a couple of colors, then spritzed them with water. Once it was a watery 'mess', I picked up the transparency and moved it around so the colors swirled all together. Then, I flipped it over and pressed it onto the paper. I mopped up the extra water with a tissue.

I did this several times, using several colors, layering the colors onto each other until I was happy with the look. Then, I pulled out my mists and went at it. I added a lot of gold, which gives the page a really simmery feel!

Sequins and rubons from the collection were the perfect finishing touches.

I created my title using a journaling card and building onto it with chipboard elements and Thickers.
The Style Board collection is so versatile and is filled with the sweetest elements. Hope you found something that inspired you today! Thanks for stopping by!

Owls and Silver Linings

Well, another week has passed by! This one just flew. We had another snowy day on Monday. Argh! Totally ready to move to Florida. The good thing is that the weather forecast for the next few days is looking up. It's going to make it into the 50s!

So, here are my spreads from last week. This was in my pink Classic. I have had these adorable owl stickers for a while and finally decided to use them. On my last trip to Michael's, I found more cute felt shapes and made the matching owl clip. Isn't he cute:

Here is my supply list:

Pink Cellophane Tape -Amazon Digital on Ebay
Blue Washi- My Mind's Eye, Thin Washi- MT
Stickers- Michael's
Striped stickers- Doodlebug
Flower Stickes- Sticko
Card- We R Memory Keepers (Banner Days)
Pens- Frixion 038

Again, I needed to add some flowers and a garden-y look to my pages in my Aqua Saffiano last week. I've had that big flower sticker for a while and knew it was time to use it. This is my PL/DT assignment Filofax, so I don't write on the weekly pages as much as I do in my personal calendar. I use my other sections a great deal more on this one. (calendar, sketches and blog posts) So, it wasn't a big deal for me to use such a large sticker to take up space. This calendar sits on my scrap table and looking at it all last week just made me happy. :)

Supplies-

Arrow Washi- My Mind's Eye, Orange Washi- Webster's Pages, Thin Washi- MT
Flower Sticker- American Crafts (Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Line)
Card- We R Memory Keepers (Simply Happy set)

Well that's about it for today. Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy the weekend!

Gossamer Blue March Release

Well, it's that time of month. Gossamer Blue's March kits are live! They are gorgeous. I had so much fun creating with them this month. Most of the kits are now sold out, but there are some Life's Pages kits still available. The best way to make sure you get one of these, is to sign up for a subscription.  There is a great mix of manufacturers this month - My Mind's Eye, Chickaniddy, Teresa Collins and Webster's Pages. Plus, there are ton of Gossamer Blue exclusives.

I thought I'd share on of my Life's Pages spreads today. The kits have a lot of pink and gold this month and I ran with it.  I love gold!

I loved the gold and white twine and had to use it on this card.
As you can see, we had a lot of snow this week. So I had to be sure to document it.
Here are some close ups.
How cute is that ampersand clip???

I'll be sharing more of my projects throughout the week, so please stop by,
Thanks and have a great day!

Frogs and Flowers

This post is a bit late getting up. It's been a crazy week. My hubby ended up in the ER with pains Sunday night. Ends up it was his appendix and he had to have emergency surgery. He's recovering slowly and surely, but as you can imagine it has been quite stressful!

So, here are my pages from last week. First up is my Aqua Saffiano. I think I've mentioned before how much I love using sticker sheets from Echo Park's scrapbooking collections on my page. Here I combined them with a PL card from my Gossamer Blue kits. I have been using lots of flowers so that I can balance the dreariness of the cold and snow.

Supplies-
Stickers- Echo Park (Beautiful Life Collection)
Card- Gossamer Blue
Aqua Washi- My Mind's Eye, Red Washi-Webster's Pages
Pen- Pilot Frixion Ball slim 038

Onto my Pink Classic. I got this one a few weeks ago and am really loving it. I wish they made the Classic in more colors. It's got a great feel to it and I like the layout of the pockets. It might become my wallet at some point.

I can't remember if I mentioned this before, but I photograph my pages soon after I make them. That's why there's not too much written in. (Just in case you're wondering. )

This week, I used that fun washi as my starting point. I though the frogs would be cute with it and added the rest in.

Supplies-
Washi- Amazon Digital on Ebay, Thin Washi- MT
Frog Sticky Notes- Jujusmile 10 on Ebay
Frog and Firefly Stickers- Darice Sticker Pads (Michael's)
Note Paper- Ebay
Pen- Pilot Frixion

Speaking of supplies, I just recently grabbed some more of the Darice Sticker Pads from Michael's. I love these for decorating. Not only are they cheap - only $1 a pad - they have really cute images. Here are some of the ones I just recently got.

I just love the hedgehogs and little camper on this page.
And could those Doxies be any cuter???
I have a feeling you'll be seeing these on my pages pretty soon!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a great week. Happy Planning!
