January Gossamer Blue Kit Reveal

Be sure to scroll down to the next post if you are visiting before midnight EST on Janurary 5. I have an awesome giveaway going on!

________________________________________

Gossamer Blue's January Kits are now live! They are bright and fun and colorful. Lori packed them full of Pink Paislee, Simple Stories, October Afternoon and Studio Calico. As always, there are awesome exclusive cards in the Life's Pages kit and there are beautiful exclusive papers. (I used my favorite for my GB blog post which will be up later.)

Here are my LP spreads for this month. This first one uses lots of the exclusive wood veneers that came with the kit. I LOVE them, especially the frame.

One of the big things that happened that week, was that I washed my iPhone with the laundry. It was quite traumatic! So, I felt like that deserved it's own page. ;)

The "Just Keep Smilin'" was cut from another card and adhered to a white card along with the picture of Ryan getting his flu shot. I love the stamps in this month's kit. They are perfect for those 'real life' events. I used the 'keepin' it real' stamp here.

My next week had lots of photos, so I used  4 by 6 card and added a library pocket to it in order to add my journaling and dates. This week, I got my new phone and a new Filofax!

Isn't that October Afternoon phone brad adorable. I thought it went perfectly for the picture of my iPhone in the bag of rice.

The best part of this week was my 30th High School reunion. I had so many pics from that. I made some photo collages. I stitched some vellum to make  pocket to hold them. Then, I tucked the pocket and a tag (from the printables this month) behind a photo overlay. I love how you can see through it. I embellished the top of the overlay.

Be sure to check out this month's kits. They are perfect for starting off the year on a bright and fun note. The Themed Add on is great for New Year's photos, too. You can see how some of the girls have used it for PL and layouts at the GB blog.

Season's Givings Blog Hop!

Happy New Year!! And welcome to my stop on the Seasons Givings Blog Hop! I'm so excited to be a part of it this year and have a fun giveaway to share to one lucky reader.

This blog hop comes at a perfect time. I've been really lax with my blogging recently. I guess I had gotten bored with it. But, I've decided that I'm going to start putting more energy into it for 2014! Aside from my projects and descriptions, I'm going to be blogging about my Filofax and how I use it to to support my Project Life pages. I also think I might throw in some cooking posts, too. If you are a regular to my blog you will have noticed that I've done some work on it and have a new background, too.  If this is your first time here, I'd love for you to become a follower (see side bar). Let me know what you'd like see more of.

So, thank you to all of you who have visited this year. This blog hop is giving me the chance to show you how much I appreciated your taking the time to stop by and spend some time in my little corner of the blogosphere. Each and every one of your comments always means a lot. Thank you!

I thought I'd share this project with you today. It's one of my favorites from this past year.

I started off with some REALLY ugly frames that I got at the thrift shop for a quarter a piece. I painted them white and added some Lumierre opalescent paint to them to give them a sheen.
Then, I layered on lots of Crate Paper's Flea Market goodies onto them.

I love the chipboard butterflies and the gold resin flowers, so those took front stage here.

The frames are rather small, so it was fun to try and find bits and pieces to put together on them.

Currently, they are on my scraproom wall. I attached them to a length of white ribbon and they are hung vertically. They look so pretty!

So, to thank all of my blog readers and to start the year off right, here's my giveaway.

This giveaway is filled with 6 by 6 papers from Pink Paislee, Glitz and Carta Bella. There are lots of other goodies, too, including embellishments from Crate, Pink Paislee, Elle's Studio and Basic Grey. Just leave a comment below by midnight EST on January 5. I will choose a winner and post it on the 6th.  Below is a list of companies and people participating in the blog hop. There are TONS of prizes to be had.

My Brand New Filofax!

As many of you know, I've become totally addicted to Filofaxes recently. I remember hearing about them and wondering what the big deal was. Well, now I know! I have always been a lover of stationery, planners, stickers and of course scrapbooking. Using my Filofaxes and decorating the pages definitely merges all of these loves. I also enjoy social networking and between Instagram, blogs and Facebook groups, I can keep in touch with all of the other Filofax Fans out there.

I've been sharing my weekly pages on Instagram and Facebook and decided to make them a part of my blog, too, so I can add more details. I've also added some of my favorite bloggers on my sidelink. If you love using planners, definitely check those out. For those of you who come to see my projects, don't worry, there will be plenty of posts about them, too. I hope to show how I use my Filofax as a means to support my Project Life pages and show a bit of how I organize my supplies, too.

I thought I'd start off with one of my new Christmas gifts. I got this lovely Personal Original in Green and just love it. The green is a gorgeous shade. I hadn't seen an original in person yet, but I am so glad I got it. I have a Saffiano, a Finsbury and a Domino. I really like all of these, but the Original is my new fave. The leather is really soft and smooth and when you open the planner it lays nice and flat.

There is an elastic pen loop on the inside cover. I am able to put two pens in it! They are both slim (slim Frixion 038 and Staedtler) so it works out perfectly.

I am currently on winter break, so I had lots of time to play around in my scraproom and set it up. This is what I spent yesterday afternoon doing...

I got a laminator, a label maker, lots of tapes and some stickers. Of course, I had to order all of my gifts myself, LOL, since DH has no clue what I like. He's just happy he didn't have to shop!

So, I made dividers for my Green Original. Since I'm using this one for my Design Team/Project Life/ Blogging stuff, those are the tabs I decided to create. Here they are right out of the laminator.

And here they are once the were placed in the binder.

Once I got everything set up, I decorated this week's pages. I had gotten a bunch of cute Rilakkuma goodies for Christmas so I used those for this week.

Isn't he cute? I love how I can get cutesy in my Filofax and still keep my shabbier side for cards and such. ;)

Here's what I used:

Filofax- Original Green
Pens- Frixion Slimline 038 in pink Staedtler marker in light green
Tapes-Cellophane Rillakuma (Ebay)
Green Floral, Polka Dot (Bella Blvd.)
Bunny Sticky Note- Ebay

So, that's pretty much what I've been up to the last few days. Thanks for stopping by!

Be sure to visit again on New Year's Day. I'm going to be a part of a huge blog hop which will involve a ton of scrapping giveaways!

Pink Tags

Happy Day after Christmas. I hope you had a lovely celebration. Our's was wonderful. Ryan was spoiled and we all ate way too much. My house looks like a bomb exploded in it. There are toys and clothes everywhere! Oh well. At least I have until January 2 to clean it all up!

So, as you can see, this is my second post in just a few days. Woo hoo! I'm on a roll. Anyway, I thought I'd share a project I made for the Crate Blog recently. I used a mix of the Bundled Up and Flea Market lines to create this pink tag set. I love the look of shabby pinkness at Christmas and tried to emulate that in the project. I think this was one of my favorite projects this year!

I added some stitching to all of them to contribute to the shabby look. On this tag I used chipboard and brads along with a label sticker.
I love layering lots of elements and the die cuts were great for doing that on this tag.
I die cut several cardboard stars and used them on the tags. I painted them with Mod Podge and added my favorite color glitter - Platinum!
The little ice skater looked so cute layered onto this star!
I love hearts and resin flowers and think they go perfectly with the theme of these tags. You could easily swap out the Christmas sticker for a Valentine's Day one, here.
And here are all 5 tags. I love how they all turned out a bit differently from each other, yet they are all coordinated. Which one do you like best?
Thanks so much for stopping today. Enjoy the rest of the holiday season.

Scrapbook and Cards Today - Winter Issue

First off, wishing everyone a happy, peaceful and blessed Christmas. This has been a crazy month with lots going on. To top things off, I got a nasty virus. I'm finally starting to feel ok, but trying to balance work, life and Christmas prep has been a challenge to say the least. As you can see, my blog has fallen way to the bottom of the priority list. But, I'm hoping to change that! On of my scrappy resolutions is to be a better blogger and add more interesting content to my posts. :) Anything in particular you'd like to see?

Today, I'm sharing a layout I have in the winter issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today. I have always loved this publication and am so excited to be working with them! I was invited to write the Easy, Detail, Expert article in the issue. You can see the entire issue here, by the way. Scrapbook and Cards Today Winter issue) It's fabulous!!

Anyway, here is the 'Expert' layout I created for the article.

I had a lot of fun with this one! The papers are all from My Mind's Eye. And the chipboard and cute little tape measure are from Maya Road. As you can see, I used my Silhouette on the title. I layered the title on a vellum pocket that I made and added confetti to.

My favorite part of this layout is embellishments. I painted the chipboard and then added glossy accents to them. Don't they look like glazed sugar cookies??

You can see the other two pages I made to coordinate with this one in the issue.

Well, that's it for today. Short and sweet. I leave you with a card that is stamped with my absolute favorite Christmas quote. I hope you all have a blessed Christmas surrounded by family and friends.
Thanks for stopping by!

November Gossamer Blue Kids

The December Gossamer Blue kits were revealed on Sunday. They are wonderful. I love the colors this month - plum, aqua, pink, orange and teal. How can you go wrong with that? Aside from the beautiful, exclusive cards and paper, there are lots of goodies from Basic Grey, Carta Bella, Chic Tags and Webster's Pages. The mix is lovely.

Here are some spreads I created with the Life's Pages kits. On this first page, I added a transparency and created a double layer for my right hand side page.

This next spread uses just items from the Life's Pages main kit and printables.  I especially love that 4 by 6 card with the triangles and the arrow shaped paper clips.

Aren't the colors so pretty? The top left card is a wood one from Basic Grey topped with a Chic Tags tag. I also love the watercolored card and the one with the three hearts.

This month's Life Pages kit stamp is so fun. You can create little pockets with it. I added photos and tag detailing the story of the night our kitty got out. It was quite upsetting and I wanted to make sure I documented everything that happened and how we felt.

So, be sure to go and check out Gossamer Blue. The main scrapbook kit is equally as awesome. And there are some super cute Christmas themed add ons, too! Lori never disappoints.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a great week.
