Blog Hop Time!!!

Are you ready for one rockin' good time? Well, you've come to the right place. As you may know, Paper Crafts is celebrating the release of the 225 Cards and Projects issue.

My cover project for the issue was made with a strawberry container. Today, I have another repurposed project for you. Not too long ago I received my first set of Papertrey Ink stamps. Aside from loving the stamps, I loved the boxes they came in. I knew I couldn't throw them out. So, I've been decorating them and using them as gift boxes. This one uses PTI cardstock, bitty dot paper, ribbon, stamps and ink.

This particular box was given to my niece for her birthday. I wrapped a necklace set in tissue and tucked it inside the box with a card. She LOVED it. I'm always so happy when people enjoy receiving my handmade goodies. ;)

So, here is where the fun begins. Leave me a comment (by Sunday April 26 at midngiht MST) telling me how you use found objects in other ways. It could be paper crafting or for some other purpose. (See an Earth Day theme tie in here?)Or let me know how you think you'll do this in the future. By doing this you will be entered for a chance to win one of these amazing prizes:

Cricut Expression

Your Story laminator/Binder

Yudu Screen Printing Machine

And here's something even better... you have 11 more chances to do so. Just visit these other ladies to view their fun projects and leave a comment for another chance to win.

I love your recycling projects--I am an elementary art teacher and we recycle all the time for art projects--we are using cardboard that someone donated for our weaving looms and yarn that other generous people have donated for the weaving!!! In my own crafts I love using brown paper bags for cards and layering and the bubble packs for acetate---I have a huge supply of old tins and canisters and jars that I store various supplies in--I LOVE recycling!!! Thanks for the new recycling ideas--i cannot wait until 225 cards & gifts comes out!!!

Cute idea with the box. I'll have to try that one. I love to reuse tags from new clothes. I will use them on the layouts where the clothers are worn or there is this brand (I forget the name) that my husband wears and the company logo is printed on one side of a cork circle. I flip it over and use it on my layouts. Thansk for the chance to win!

Sweet, Anabelle! Your box is too cute! I'm goin' have to put in an order to PaperTrey Ink some time soon. A girl can only resist for so long!

Recently, I took pringles cans and altered them with Disney paper so my kids could have "Penny Banks" to save up for our trip to Disney land!

Loved your box --- it was so refreshing in color.

I use old mason jars that are no longer useable for canning -- there are so many uses for them -- vases & storing buttons, just a few.

I use mint/altoid tins for the alphabets I cut with my cuttlebug. Makes it easier to find a letter when I'm looking for it.

I am so cheap, and I repurpose items all the time! I have used Starbucks coffee "jars" for flower jars in my scraproom. I have used old baskets for storage items. I have used old spice jars for brad and eyelet storage.

I have used old bottle caps for jewelery and paper craft accents.

I have used old sewing measuring tapes for "ribbon" on craft pages. I save buttons off of old blouses, shirts, etc. for use on cards and scrapbook pages.

Toilet paper rolls hold cords or become tubes for gifts when covered with pretty scraps of paper.

I collect coasters from restaurants (like Red Lobster, Olive Garden, etc.), and I turn them into chipboard accents or mini albums.

I save old cards and reuse the fronts and make new cards, or cut out images to make accents and embellishments for a new project.

Foam meat trays become custom stamps. Plastic containers become storage or shrink plastic elements (depending on the plastic recycling number). Plastic produce bags get scrunched and dipped in paint to make distressed finishes.

I have taken old tension curtain rods and turned them into sticker holders on my book shelves. Binder clips hold the stickers in place for a homemade version of the clip-it-up (registered trademark).

I save the ribbons and bows off of gifts, and reuse them in paper projects. I also save scrap of material or well loved scraps of clothing items and then repurpose them in layouts of the person wearing that item of clothing. The spare cloth may be a border, bow or ribbon on the page.

Well, you get the idea. I reuse almost everything! If there is a way to craft with it, I think I can find a use for it.

Thanks for sharing and for the great project.

I'm sure your niece was happy to receive such a wonderful gift. The box you made is very pretty and I just love the colors you used. Thanks for the chance to win some amazing products!

I love to keep my empty tins and make them into gifts and am just now starting to keep the cardboard and plastic packaging to make into little books. So much fun to do. I also rip down boxes and expose the inside to use as a scrap page. Thanks for the chance to win.

I've reused glass jars for storage in my craft room. I love being able to see all my goodies at a glance in my mismatched collection.

I am a queen when it comes to remaking, reusing, redoing things up when they are ready for the trash. I used the left over laminating paper (from school) to make clear boxes for Valentine's day cupcakes. They came out great.

I love using all sorts of containers for storage in my craft area. I also like to alter ugly frames into pretty ones!

Thank you for another chance to win one of these fabulous prizes!

I totally repurpose things! Cereal boxes are a great place to find thin chipboard and the packaging from my scrapbooking supplies often has beautiful designs or patterns that can easily be turned into rocking embellishments!

Middle name is thrifty so always using found objects and leftovers for all my crafts. No one thing in particular, just look at things beyond their original purpose.

Love the colors of the box!

Hmm...I'm not sure. But I love the idea of using a strawberry carton, so I think I'll try that! =)

I often recycle packaging and decorate it in a more attractive way to hold gifts, or scrapbooking supplies.

I buy the frozen juice in plastic containers and then I put paper around it and decorate the container and use it for gifts. I've also used the same containers and after putting paper around them I fastened 6 together and made it into a marker/pencil holder on my craft table.

I try to reuse the plastic packaging things come in. I have used some for storage and others for cutting ghost shapes to use on layouts.

I love your box. It is way too cute. I use old file folders to recycle from the office and at home, I use containers for my craft embellishments.

I love to take sturdy paperboard boxes that once stored a new product and paper mache' them with scrapbook papers. Use them to store pictures or mini albums.

I've actually been hoarding a couple of those Maya Road tin boxes that their chipboard comes in. I want to use them to give giftcards, or perhaps put in several handmade cards that the recipient can use for later.
Your gift item turned out beautifully - sounds like you scored major points w/ you niece. ;)

I love using the tags from clothing, or scrapbook stuff, and using them on my layouts. It's so fun!

On the self-stick postage stamp sheets there is one "sticker" of the stamp enlarged along with the description and price. I save those and build a theme around the image on the stamp and create cards. My buttons are in plastic nut bins and my ribbon stored in those big tins that Christmas cookies come in!

The most recent thing I repurposed was a small See's candy box- it is JUST the right size for my cuttlebug embossing folders and has a delicious chocolatey smell!

I save little bits of this and that to use on my cards. I saved a feather and some rhinestone picks from a boutinere that my husband wore in a wedding last summer and used them on a card. It fit perfectly!

I save all sorts of items! I save interesting price tags from clothing. I recently die cut some old denim shorts. I now have denim flowers to use on my next project.

Great package you created! Thanks for a chance to win.

I hang onto tags from clothing and extra buttons and use them on projects or use tags that are graphically interesting for ideas.

I saved a Lipton tea round can for quite some time, not knowing what I was going to do with it. When I reorganized my scraproom, I decorated it with pretty paper and some flowers for a pen and marker container.

I made an altered book for my sister in law's 30th birthday, she loved it!

I like to recycle things as storage containers. EVERYTHING needs to be stored in something or another, and I like to be able to re-use what I have. About 6 years ago I sold AVON, and the boxes that the products were shipped in were very sturdy and had a lid. Guess what? Slap a label on the end of that lid, and you've got a GREAT system for organizing. I've got one for yarn, partial skeins of yarn :), cross-stitch, sewing, tissue paper & bows, etc.

I use tags from things I buy, like clothing tags, or junk mail that comes, if it has cool colors and a nice pattern, and I've even kept little boxes/plastic holders that things come in to repurpose!

I save all kinds of chipboard/cardboard to use in my crafting. I also save just about every box to decorate and reuse as a gift box. I have MANY of the PTI stamp boxes, but never thought to use them as gift boxes! What a great idea!

I use old CDs to make clocks and message boards.

I don't do this too often. But, I have used an old box or can to make a pencil holder or holder, container of some kind. My son made an Easter basket at school with an old plastic milk carton and cotton balls. Jennyh

I like to save things for future paper crafting projects. They don't always get used, but at least they are saved from the landfill.

I always like to find little treasures to put on cards. It's amazing what will work!

I will paint cans and use jars to put homemade goodies in it. Thanks for the inspiration...I love your box.

I read on a blog that everything can be used again for something. Never throw anything away that it might come in handy. Now when I get an extra scrap of paper, a box that something comes in, a pretty bottle, I keep them. I guess I must be a hoarder, because I even have a hard time using the things that I keep to reuse. So alas I don't have a favorite project.

I was never a good recycler, but I have started lately using the packaging from scrapbooking products to store other things in, and have you noticed the packaging is so pretty now, great to use on cards and scrapbook pages.

My greataunt gave me part of her milk glass collection...I love using it for my vanity counter to hold makeup brushes and such and on my craft table! I get to use it every day instead of just passing it by it on a shelf.
