Crate Paper/ Cardmaker Magazine Blog Hop

Hi! Welcome to the Crate Paper/ Cardmaker Blog Hop. Thanks for stopping by. You should have arrived here from Christine Okken's blog.  If not, be sure to head back to the Cardmaker Magazine blog so you won't miss any of the fun! I'm really excited to be participating. Today I have a card, that I made with the beautiful Maggie Holmes line, to share with you.

I'm a huge fan of chipboard and die cuts. For this card, I started with a cream colored base. I layered several of the die cuts, from the ephemera pack, to use as a backdrop for my butterfly.
Next, I added a clothespin to the butterfly. I removed the decorative accent from one of the bobby pins and added it to the clothespin. A couple of gems finished things off. I attached this to my layered die cuts.

I love the canvas frames in this line. I decided to cut my sentiment from one of them and adhered it below the butterfly.

My card is simple, yet I think it packs a lot in for a great effect.

Now for the fun part. Be sure to leave a comment. Crate Paper will be hosting a giveaway of $40 worth of product from the Maggie Holmes line!

Time to hop on over to the next blog. You'll be heading to see what Becky Cowley has created.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day. :)

Summer Card Set

I have really been loving Crate's The Pier line. Living somewhat close to the beach, I do get lots of pictures that I can scrap using this collection. The Pier is also great for cards. Two of my favorite things to use on cards are the chipboard pieces and standout stickers. They make cardmaking  so easy! Here is a set that I created recently.

For each card, I started off using a chipboard frame and then going from there.
I love how the colors look against the cream cardstock. It really makes the elements pop.
These cards could be used for a variety of occasions.
I even added a few elements from Party Day to make it a birthday card.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I'm going to be part of a blog hop on Friday with Cardmaker magazine, so be sure to come back. There will be prizes involved. :)

Have a great day.

Project Life!

Well, I've finally entered the realm of Project Life and so far, I am loving it! We have been doing so much and having so much fun this summer, it's the perfect means to document it. This past week we spent time at the beach, had a blast on the 4th of July and visited the mountains for a couple of days. I thought I'd share what I've done so far.

I decided to start small - manly because I'm running out of room for my 12 by 12 albums. I used a 6 by 8 Snap album for my December Daily and decided to go that route. I am doing a 'summer' album first and will decide what to do after that. Here's a glimpse at what I've done so far...

This is the album. I added lots of goodies on here - Elle's Studio tags, SC wood veneers, Crate stickers ad Simple stories paper and chipboard. I spritzed the stars with Navy Mr. Huey. LOVE that stuff right now.

I made this as my title page. My title page and Week One were done using lots of Basic Grey.
Aside from being able to document lots of the little things we're doing, I love that PL combines the memory keeping aspect of scrapping with the small scale design of cardmaking. It's the perfect blend!

This next spread uses the May and June kits from Studio Calico. I added a 4 by 6 piece of transparency to the center of my spread for some extra space.

Aside from the kits, I added a Crate slide frame and my new favorite embellishments, Gold Stars!!!

Definitely loving Project Life right now. You'll be seeing a lot more of my spreads, soon. ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

Studio Calico Inked Class

Only a few more days until Studio Calico's July online class begins! I am so excited to be a contributor to this one. Maile Belles and Nicol Migourk will be sharing lots of fun ways to use your stamps on both cards and layouts. The stamp set is adorable, as are the die cuts and printables. I can't wait to participate in class and get some new ideas for using my ever growing collection of stamps.

Here are some sneaks provided by Studio Calico.

Aren't they great? If you're interested in signing up you can go here: Studio Calico Inked Class

So, on to projects. I made this layout for Crate's Creative Weekly for June. The focus was on dots.

I got out my new Gelatos and started playing. I colored the background and then painted over it.
I used my Silhouette to cut the background. Then I added some gold sequins. Love those.

The papers are from Crate's Maggie Holmes and The Pier lines. I used some of The Pier's slide frames, too. I find that I've been using them on so many of my projects these days. Those gold Thickers are another of my new favorite 'go to' embellishments.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day.

Mixy Matchy

Is there a worst blogger of the year award? If so, I think I should be receiving it. I have been so bad about posting! I'm done teaching, so I do have the time, but for some reason I just haven't sat down to do it.  I'm officially vowing to be better. :)

Today I am sharing a card for Moxie Fab World's Mixy Matchy challenge. I decided to pull out some Webster's and Crate goodies and go from there. I had a lot of fun with this one. I also used washi on it. I started by taping the red and pink chevron washi to cardstock and then die cutting it. I made the turquoise scalloped border the same way.

The striped paper is from Crate's On Trend line. I still love that one and had fun pulling out my 6 by 6 paper pad. (Have been going crazy over these lately...)

The little journaling card is Webster's and I stamped a Lily Bee stamp onto it.
I have to say I love how the colors and patterns all worked on here.

Well, thanks for stopping by. I'm REALLY going to get better at posting. Promise!

Citrus Twist

We just recently got back from a great trip to Atlantis. It was a wonderful time for bonding and just enjoying some much needed relaxation time. Atlantis was a lot of fun. They have an amazing water park that we took full advantage of. It did rain several days, but we still found activities that kept us busy. One of the coolest things we did was swim with the Dolphins. Ryan and I donned wet suits and got up close and personal with a dolphin named Meg. It was absolutely amazing. Well worth the arm and leg they charged us, LOL. But, seriously, it was an experience of a lifetime.

Here I am kissing her nose. She proceeded to give me a huge splash of water in my face right after the picture was taken!

And here is Ryan dancing with her. The told us to put our arms out straight. Then she came out of the water and lifted up her fins. We grabbed the fins and then shook our booties to dance with her. It was so fun!
I'm sure you'll be seeing a layout using these two pics sometime soon!

So, onto scrappy stuff. I have a couple of layouts to share today. They are my last two Citrus Twist pages. I really enjoyed working with CT for May!

This page documents my newest scraproom purchase - a Rasko cart. I just love it. It holds all of my mixed media supplies.

I created the swath of water color by first painting on a transparency. I used plenty of water and then laid the paper on top of it. The title was cut with my silhouette using the font Stencilia.

This page documents things about Ryan as he turned ten. I wrote about all of his favorites right now - Minecraft, being with friends, reading Big Nate books, etc.

Well , that's about all for today. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope to see you again soon!

Another Flowery Card

It's finally starting to feel like summer! I'm in my element. :)

So my projects lately have been filled with bright colors and flowers. I have a favorite to share with you today. I made it for Emma's and I have lots of things I love on it - Prima flowers, burlap twine, doilies and gems.
I used some Glitz Uncharted Waters papers on here and I just love them.
The little butterfly is a My Mind's Eye sticker and I used one of Webster's Pages stamps for the sentiment.

So, that's it for today. Thanks so much for stopping by. :)
