Stamp Winner and Some Butterflies

This month's Crate Creative Weekly focused on butterflies. I love butterflies, but was stumped as to what I wanted to do. I decided to go with a bold look. Maggie Holmes' watercolor paper and the one with clouds on it were perfect to do so.

This is a picture of Fran and Ryan at our favorite hiking spot. I wanted the theme of the page to be 'outdoorsy' and   focus on that 'free' feeling they get when they are out in the park.
I used a tag and chipboard frame to layer under my picture. I added a gem clip and cut a portion of a canvas frame to add to the bottom.

Another piece of canvas frame was used as my title. I didn't want anything too bit to take away from teh butterflies. I also used my typewriter for the first time on this page.

The butterflies were cut with my Silhouette. Then I cut vellum slightly smaller. I stitched them together and added some gems. I love the soft look the vellum gives them.

Finally, congrats to SuZeQ who won my stamp giveaway. Thanks to those of you who stopped by and left a comment.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by.

Speech Bubbles

(If you are here for the Studio Calico stamp giveaway, please scroll down to the next post. It's open until Wednesday.)

I'm on a roll. Another post in just two days! Woo Hoo. That's what being on Spring Break will do for me. :)
Anyway, I had the chance to play along with Cath's 'Speech Bubble' challenge from the Moxie Fab World blog.  I love her challenges and this one was particularly fun for me because I have a lot of these little guys hanging around just waiting to be used!

On this one, I used the "love" die cut from SC's February card kit. I layered it with another die cut from the kit and a Maya Road kraft pocket.  I added some AC Lucky Charm paper. And my favorite part is the '!' wood veneer speech bubble. I added the heart rhinestone. Isn't it cute? Wish I could find more of those.

Here's another card that I made this weekend. I used some SC and Pebbles paper along with some SC wood veneers and MME enamel dots.
The label and striped border are printables from the 'You've Got Mail' class at SC. I've really enjoyed the class and am sad to see it come to an end.

The stamps are from Papertrey Ink's Birthday Tags set. I stamped them with Prima Chalk ink and added colored the word BIG with a Staedtler pen.

Well, that's about it for today. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Stamp Giveaway and Some Cards

I made it to Spring Break and I'm so excited! I have nine glorious days off. Don't get me wrong, I really love the kids I teach and my job, but it's definitely exhausting. Just knowing that I can do whatever I want for the next week is such a relief. I'm planning on lots of lunches with friends, scrapping and maybe even a little spring cleaning. We'll see.

I have a few things to share this week. First up today is a card I made for Emma's Paperie. I used AC Lucky Charm, some Studio Calico and some Crate Maggie Holme's line.

I started off by embossing the background with my favorite swiss dots embossing folder. Then I layered on the papers and the die cuts. This card is based on March's sketch at Emma's Paperie.

The next two cards are ones I did for the You've Got Mail Class at Studio Calico. I've been really enjoying this class and the challenges they've offered. On here, I created the background paper I stamped my sentiment on, using mists. It's hard to see,but it has a mix of pinks and yellows on it. I also stamped the tag in the background.

My final card uses a lot of Silhouette die cuts. The polaroid frame comes from the SC class files. I added the flowers.
There's lots of dimension on here. I love the colors. And that triangle paper is one of my absolute faves. It came from the SC card kit, Neverland.

Finally, I have a giveaway. I have this unused Studio Calico stamp. If you'd like to win it, just leave a comment by Wednesday, 3/27 at midnight. I'll pick a winner and send it out. (Sorry for the blurry image.)

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!

Recent Layouts

I have a couple of layouts to share today. First up is this one that I was excited to see chosen as the Featured Layout at Studio Calico! I used a lot of the Sundrifter line on here along with AC Amy Tangerine. The colors are my faves. :) I have been getting braver using mists and added Dewey, Cameo and First Kiss to the background.

I die cut the title using my Silhouette. The die cuts from this collection are so cute and I used one under the the title.
Love that layered camera sticker. I'm thinking I might play around with inks and white embossing to get a similar look.
And see those little feather die cuts? They are so cute. I'm really liking feathers these days. Just did a tutorial using one. It should be up pretty soon.
This next page uses some bolder colors. I used the Pebbles Seen and Noted line on here along with some Simple Stories goodies

Ryan isn't actually gagging himself here. LOL. He heard that it was going to snow, so he put on his pajamas on backwards, flushed ice down the toilet, licked a spoon and put it under his pillow and did the 'snow dance' before he climbed into bed.

Unfortunately for him, it didn't work. LOL. Better luck next time.
I love the Oh Snap line and cut this speech bubble from one of the journaling cards.

These snowflakes were cut with my Silhouette. So was the tab.

Well, luckily for me, we don't have any snow in the forecast. The first day of spring will be here and I couldn't be happier. I recently saw this shirt on Pinterest and it fits me to a 'tee' lol.

So true!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great day.

A Few Cards

I've been busy making cards recently. Seems like this time of year there are lots of birthdays around here.
The first two cards are ones that I made using some goodies from the Studio Calico 'You've Got Mail' card class. I'm hooked on SC printables these days. For these cards, I changed the colors of them from bright to more muted tones. Then, I created neutral colored cards. I did lots of layering on these. And cut flowers with my Silhouette. I have to say, I'm really happy with how they turned out!

I love the little birdie wood veneers. I thought I'd add them for a whimsical touch to the cards.

Both of these cards use a birthday sentiment from the class stamp set. The papers are from the Front Row card kit.

This next card has a totally different feel to it. I used the Rock Star stamp set from Inkadinkadoo. I love this set and have pulled it out a LOT lately. On this one, I used papers from the Front Row card kit. The guitar was stamped with Prima chalk ink and I actually did some coloring on it! I stamped the stars and sentiments with Versafine Onyx Black.

Notice that birthday sentiment stamp again? It works just as well on this masculine card! I love it.

Well, thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

Pink and Yellow

Hello! It's the end of a long day. I taught, came home and cooked, cleaned, etc. Went to the gym for a killer spinning/yoga class and now I'm laying here in bed with the laptop. It's my favorite time of day. I'm just chilling out.

I wanted to share a quick post tonight because I realized that I haven't posted this card.

I used a Pink Paislee heart as a stencil and inked the yellow heart onto the paper. I cut it out and handstitched around it.  There's lots of layering going on. I layered some Crate paper, a doily, two Melissa Frances tags and then I backed my stenciled heart with a Little Yellow Bicycle sticker.
I decided to decorate the inside of the card, too. The stamp is Ali Edwards.  I love it!

There you have it. A little pink and yellow to hopefully brighten up your day.
Thanks for stopping by. :)

Last of the Valentine's Stuff

Happy Saturday. Hope you had a great week. Just another busy one here. I'm STILL fighting a respiratory thing. Spring can't get here soon enough. I am so sick of being sick!! I just want to open up all of the windows and get rid of germs.

I have a couple of last Valentines-y things to share today. This first layout is the one I did for Crate's Creative Weekly feature this week. We focused on RED.

I used a combination of Fourteen and DIY Shop on this one. It's about the fondue we have every Valentine's Day. MMMM. I added some die cuts and little bits of chipboard. The tag was created on my Silhouette.
I added some wood veneers, too. I love the little chevron shaped ones.
I love the look of cream and red together, so I kept the color palette simple. The photos also played a role in carrying the color through the page. (And on a side note, these were the first pictures I printed with my new Selphy printer. I am in love! I've never had luck printing pics at home and these turn out perfect. If you are looking for a home photo printer I can't say enough about this one!)

Finally, just a quick card. I kept this simple and bold.

I started with some charcoal cardstock and layered a piece of velum over it. Then, I cut thin strips of Studio Calico paper and more velum and stitched them together along the bottom.
The heart was cut from some Echo Park paper. I added an EP sticker and some gems to top it off.

Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!
